These include 1991 Builder of the Year from California Builder magazine, The Spirit Of Life Award in 1985 from the City of Hope and Headliner of the Year from the San Diego Press Club in 1986.

Corky was also named Business Person of the Year by the National City Chamber of Commerce in 1990 as well as Man of the Year by the Mexican and American Foundation that same year. In 1991 Corky received the prestigious Lee Hubbard Award, one of just five given by the BIA of San Diego in the previous 15 years. The award recognized individuals who had made outstanding contributions to the building industry as well as to the community.

More accolades came in 1992 when the San Diego Apartment Association named Corky its Man of the Year and in 1994 the BIA's Sales and Marketing Council dubbed him the Industry Professional of the Year. Despite the seemingly personal nature of many of these awards, Corky has always maintained that he has very little to do with the success. It is the people he works with at The Corky McMillin Companies whose hard work and dedication are reflected in any accolades he receives.

In 1981 Professional Builder magazine presented Corky with its Professional Achievement Award for his Scripps Ranch North master-planned community, a nationally recognized model for conscientious large-scale development. The community also received a coveted Orchid Award from the local American Institute of Architects for land planning excellence.

Corky was named the 1997 San Diego real estate Entrepreneur of the Year by the accounting firm of Ernst and Young. Recognized for his accomplishments as an innovator and leader within the real estate industry, Corky was singled out for his entrepreneurial spirit, courage and perseverance shown while building his business up from its start nearly 40 years ago.

Recently, The Corky McMillin Companies was honored by the San Diego City Council for its contribution to civic, arts and educational projects throughout the city. January 19, 1999 was named McMillin Companies Day in San Diego. Corky?s crowning achievement came in 2001 when Chula Vista Elementary School District named its newest school Corky McMillin Elementary School.

In 2002, Corky was given the Golden Achievement Award by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego for his genuine commitment to the youth of San Diego County. The most recent award was given to The Corky McMillin Companies by the San Diego Business Journal and University of San Diego's Family Business Forum. The organization was given the Large Family-Owned Business Award for its family-first attitude, a basis of the company?s success for more than 40 years.
